Intercity coaches
Intercity fares depend on distance: about €4 one way between neighbouring cities (Nicosia–Larnaca, Larnaca–Limassol, Limassol–Paphos), €5 for Nicosia–Limassol, up to about €9 for the longest cross-island trips such as Paphos–Paralimni. Pay the driver; return tickets and period passes are also available.
Motion card and passes
The Motion card is a reloadable smart card accepted on urban buses: it drops a city single from €2.40 to €1.80 and halves the night fare. Cards are sold at bus station offices and on some buses (cash only). Weekly and monthly passes exist per district, and pan-Cyprus passes (about €75 for 7 days, €225 for 30 days) cover every operator on the island.
Children aged 6–18 and students travel at half price; personalised Motion cards unlock further discounts for residents.
Good to know
- Card payment is not available on every bus — carry some cash.
- Keep your ticket: inspectors issue on-the-spot fines (€150 in the Famagusta district) for travelling without one.
- Luggage, prams and beach gear travel free.
